CloudStack is also a platform for developers and users to build/extend solutions on top of it. This presentation will review different techniques to extend CloudStack, build/extend solutions on top of it and integrate with external vendors solutions. It will cover brief overview of ACS architecture and codebase, development techniques using plugin, HTTP APIs, events, Thrift (not public yet); case study on ApiDiscovery plugin that CloudMonkey uses; example of integrating a fictitious vendor solution (architecture) with ACS; walkthrough on writing a plugin, its tests, integration to ACS codebase by approaching community, sharing specs and getting code/patches reviewed/merged; discussion on AMQP queues, events and how to setup/develop/test using RabbitMQ; Walkthrough on writing consumer & using events to implement an example; Future work and scope, Q&A.
